The Shades of Green Disneyworld resort lies in the center of Disneyworld and was formerly known as Disney Inn. US military purchased this resort to use it as a recreation center for the Armed Forces. This resort is situated close to the Magic Kingdom, merely southern west of Polynesian Resort. Shades of Green resort, is still not on the loop of monorail, which serves Epcot and Magic Kingdom. The transportation from this resort to the Disneyworld for the guests is arranged on buses that shuttle back and forth from haulage and ticket center, Animal kingdom, MGM Studious, water parks and also Downtown Disney.
Formerly, this resort was owned by Disney and was named as the Golf Resort which was later changed to the Disney Inn. In the initial days, this resort served similar to a country club and did not have guest rooms, which were accompanied in the month of December, year 1973. “Shades of green” resort was then leased to the US Defense Department in the early 1994. Soon, on 12th January, 1996 the resort was out rightly purchased by military and they conferred the name Shades of Green.

This Disneyworld Resort unlike the other resorts of Disney does not possess a permeating theme. The overall décor of Shades of Green resembles the classy state-of-the art country club. The resort occupies 586 rooms reckoned to be few of the biggest rooms of Disney World. They offer sufficient space for the guest to relax and rejuvenate. The Shades of Green resort is surrounded by 2 of the World’s PGA championship courses namely The Palm and The Magnolia. Shades of Green has illuminated tennis courses, 2 heated pools, children pool, fitness center, laundry service and an arcade. The dining facility of this resort is based on the theme of sports and has a sports bar called Evergreens. Besides, a family can enjoy buffet at ‘The Garden Gallery’. The reservations to this resort can be done by the active duty folks of military as well as retirees, completely disabled veterans, widows, and recipients of Medal of Honor.
